Thursday

Spittin' rain this morning, not drizzle, not sprinkles, it was more like clumps of water falling! So I wimped out and took the fast direct route that leaves out backtracking to LVP. Got a little wet tho my shoes stayed dry. Tomorrow I say home to ponder.

PM:
The rain came as promised Thursday afternoon. It had to be several inches; the water on the road was axle deep in low spots and ankle deep on Marietta Street west of Five Points. The wind was impressive too making headway difficult on the eastside of Five Points. I could not have been wetter. Traffic was creeping along at 2 or 3 MPH - it took an hour to get home (I guess that means an average speed of about 5 MPH). Tho traffic was as bad as it gets car drivers seemed amused to see a bike rider in all that rain and gave me the right of way; everyone smiled, two or three let their windows down a little to chat while we were stopped at traffic lights. Not a bad experience at all, I'd happily do it again... My riding attire was a tee shirt, shorts, helmet and riding shoes.
